I'm reporting apparent plagiarism by Lt.Colonel John Sheppard.

( My case is made below the cut due to length. )

On July 26th 2009 livejournal user donutsweeper reported that her story The Widening Gyre had been plagiarised by Fanfiction.net user brokenbitsofhc.  See the post here.

Having reviewed both stories brokenbitsofhc had changed the characters and the ending. However significant portions of the story were a word for word copy.

It's been brought to my attention that my NCIS story "The Widening Gyre" ( here on LJ and here on ff.net) has been plagiarized and posted as the SG-1 story "Different, but the Same" by brokenbitsofhc.

Although the ending was altered, large chunks of the story were lifted with only minor changes.

On April 29, 2008, alyse reported that wickedplotbunny plagiarized her.

It then quickly came to light that there were others. See this fabulous chart that alyse created to track her stories and which ones have been identified as plagiarized and who the original author is. My story Silence, which was written for SG-1, has been reposted with the names changed as a Torchwood story, Isolation, by wickedplotbunny.

Here is my line by line comparison of the first three or four paragraphs. I didn't have the energy to do more.

It was brought to our attention ( link) on October 13, 2007 that katie-baum at fanfiction.net plagiarized several stories from the Stargate, and Doctor Who fandoms, and The Killers bandom, turning them into Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill stories.

On August 29, 2007, sgatlantislight reported that a person by the name of AsaruKatarin on YouTube had a video titled, Stargate Slash Tribute (Screencap if vid gets pulled.) that included her icon at minute one (the text says, "I always carry a picture of my man."), but she was never asked for permission for its use and is not credited ( Read more... )
